Roger DeWayne Story died on November 19, 2020 from COVID19. Roger was born May 4, 1938 in Brookings, SD to Bernace & Margaret (Scofield) Story. In 1944, they moved to a farm in Spring Creek township in Moody County. He attended country school in Moody county and graduated from Flandreau High school in 1956. He served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1961. After his discharge from the Army, he farmed with his father on the family farm. Roger married Carolyn Miller on November 21, 1969. Roger & Carolyn moved to the family farm in 1974 where they raised their 4 children and engaged in farming until 1991, when they moved into Flandreau. He worked for the Moody County Highway Department and T&R Electric until his retirement. Roger and Carolyn moved to Dell Rapids in 2007 to be closer to their daughter and family and resided most recently at Dells Nursing and Rehab Center until his death.

Roger enjoyed farming, deer hunting in the fall and fishing with family and friends. His fun loving smile and sense of humor was loved by all.

Roger is survived by his wife Carolyn of nearly 51 years, his daughter Kim McNamara, son Allan and his wife Tami, daughter Jennifer Lacey and her husband Tod and daughter Janis Story-deBoer and her husband Will. He is survived by his grandchildren Ava Story, Quentin and Leo deBoer, Tad, Sheree and Leigha Lacey, Kyria Olson, great-grandchildren Zander and Danika Lacey and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his grandson Wade Lacey, his parents, three sisters, two brothers and son in law Jim McNamara.

A service with burial at Union Cemetery, Flandreau will be held in Spring 2021.
